Okay… a burning question has perpetually plagued me: since Tom Bombadil was the only one immune to the effects of the ring, why wasn’t he the one chosen to take the ring to Mordor to be destroyed, instead of a very vulnerable hobbit?  Why sacrifice Frodo when it was unnecessary?
